This is the pool and theory sections of the PADI Open Water Course only and is recommended if you wish to complete your qualifying dives abroad while on holiday so your time is spent diving rather than learning! It consists of 2 of the 3 stages of the PADI Open Water Course:
Part 1. Knowledge Development
During the first part of each of your scuba lessons, you'll learn the basic principles of scuba diving such as:
What to consider when planning dives.
How to choose the right scuba gear for you.
Underwater signals and other diving procedures.
You'll learn this valuable information by reading it in the PADI Open Water Diver Manual. At the end of each chapter, you'll answer questions about the material to ensure you understand it. Along the way, let us know if there is anything you don't understand. At the end of the course, you’ll take a final exam that ensures you have thorough knowledge of scuba diving basics.
You'll also watch videos that preview the scuba skills you'll practice in a swimming pool or pool-like environment. In addition to the video, your instructor will demonstrate each skill for you.
2. Confined Water Dives
This is what it’s all about – diving. You'll develop basic scuba skills in our pool. The basic scuba skills you learn during your certification course will help you become familiar with your scuba gear and become an underwater explorer. Some of the essential skills you learn include:
Setting up your scuba gear.
How to get water out of your mask.
Entering and exiting the water.
Basic underwater navigation.
You'll practice these skills with an instructor until you're comfortable. When you're ready, it's time for your underwater adventure to begin at an open water dive site either here in the UK or on holiday.
We always recomend that you complete your qualifying dives with us, there has been trust and relationship built up over your confined and theory courses to get you ready to complete your training, however if you alread have holiday plans and are short on time, this may be a good option for you. We can complete your referal paperwork, and you can complete your course whilst on holiday.
If you want to book on to this course, pay directly here and we will contact you to schedule your pool sessions. Click here for details of when our pool sessions are held to make sure they fit in with you.
If you decide this is the route for you, just come see us when you get back, and tell us how it all went and join the club so you keep refreshed on a regular basis and get diving here in the UK!
